LLOYD, “Girlie” Lucia Doreen

died on May 1, 2017 in her 96th year at Groves Park Lodge Long Term Care Centre in Renfrew, Ontario. Predeceased by her husband Garth in 2007 and son Graham in 2008. LloydShe lives on through her son Geoffrey (Marian) of North Bay, daughter Marilyn (Bruce Lange) of Douglas and daughter-in-law Suzanne Lloyd of Richards Landing; grandchildren Mandy Whelan (Jared) of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Colin Lloyd (Kristine Donovan) of Tampa, Florida, David Lloyd of Picton, Stefan Lange (Rebecca Millar) of London and Sabine Lange (Matthew Morin) of Elgin, Texas; and great grandchildren Devan and Connor Whelan, Veronica Lloyd, Matthew and Andrew Lloyd and Jacob and Autumn Lange. Born in England, she arrived in Canada with her family on May 31, 1948 at Pier 21, Halifax, Nova Scotia. She lived in Deep River, Ontario for almost 60 years, enjoying curling and later rug hooking and spent 30 years wintering in Florida. She was very computer-literate and enjoyed making greeting cards and listening to music with her iPod. Garth was always in her thoughts although his heavenly duties did not include making the tea as he had every day during their 66 years of marriage. In her final years she longed to return to “England’s green and pleasant land”, so Bon Voyage Mum – you are free to join Dad and settle wherever your spirit wishes. Anderson Funeral Home in Renfrew was entrusted with her cremation. Her memory will be honoured as we gather for family picnics this summer. The family thanks the staff at Quail Creek Retirement Residence and Groves Park Lodge for their kind care.
