RIP: Dickson, Girard

DICKSON, Jenny Frances (nee Holmgren)

Jenny passed away peacefully at the North Renfrew Long-Term Care Centre on December 24, 2016, with family members by her side. Jenny was born near Anerley, Saskatchewan Dickson, Jennyon November 22, 1931, the 2nd child of parents Sofia and Nels Holmgren. She grew up in Kelvington, SK where she excelled at school. After graduating from high school she taught in a one-room schoolhouse until she was old enough to enter nursing college. Early in her nursing career, she took time off to start a family. In the early 60’s, separated from her husband, Jenny returned to nursing while raising her 3 young sons. She was a passionate advocate for her sons’ education. She loved reading, needlework, gardening, listening to music and raising Shetland Sheepdogs. Jenny is the beloved mother of Lawrence (Anne), Raymond (Shannon) both of Deep River, and Thomas (Ida) of Saudi Arabia. She is the cherished grandmother of Matthew, Neil, Andrew and Jenny (Jr). Jenny was predeceased by her parents, sister Stella and brother Albert. A memorial service will be held at St. Barnabas Church, Deep River on Wednesday, June 7th at 10:00 am. Jenny’s family would like to thank the caring staff of the Four Seasons Lodge and the North Renfrew Long-Term Care Centre. GIRARD, Laurette (nee Ethier)

Born August 14, 1924, Laurette passed away peacefully at Waters Edge Care Community on Sunday May 28th, 2017 at the age of 92 years. Predeceased by her husband Hector Girard, LauretteGirard. Dear mother of Angele Francoeur (Bernard deceased), Suzanne Tooley (Robert), Conrad (Janet), Rolland (Helene), Gilberte Warren (Victor Mathieu), Leona Hawley (Christopher) and Adrienne Turner (Jim). Cherished memere to 19 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter. Also survived by brothers Denis Ethier (late Yollande) of Sturgeon Falls, Gilbert Ethier (Andree) of Windsor; sisters Anne Marie Ethier (late Alfred St Laurent) of Lasarre, QC, Helene Vaillancourt (late Raymond) of Windsor; sisters-in-law Therencienne Mondor (late Yvon) of Arnprior and Irene Ethier of Windsor. Also predeceased by her parents Rose de Lima and Fabien Ethier, two grandsons Richard Girard and Michael Tooley, granddaughter Carey Mathieu, daughter-in-law Fernande Girard, sister Fabiola Girard and brothers Edouard, Rosario & Benoit Ethier, sisters-in-law Georgette Bouvier, Germaine Bouvier, Gloria Toal, Antonia Belair, Yvette Mondor, Juliette Cloutier, brothers-in-law Fernand and Paul Girard. Family receiving friends at HILLSIDE FUNERAL SERVICES, 362 Airport Rd, North Bay, on Thursday June 1st from 7 until 9 pm. A funeral service will be held on Friday June 2nd at 11 am at the funeral home. Interment will be held on Saturday June 3rd at the Deep River Cemetery at 11 am.
