RIP: Mark, Charron

MARK, Gillian (Jill) Ruby (nee Smedley), 69, of Deep River, ON, died Sunday, January 7, 2018 at Forest Hill in Kanata. She was born May 26th, 1948 in Windsor, NS to Hubert (Tim) and Janet Smedley. She is lovingly remembered by her husband of 43 years, Greg Mark and her children Sean of the Deep River area and Amy (James Fraser) of Kanata.

Dear sister to Jane (Roy Thomas), Robert (predeceased) (Liette) and Jim (Sherri). Proud grandmother to Seamus and Maire. Loving aunt to many nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Jill’s life will be held from 2 to 4 pm Sunday, January 21st, at the Bear’s Den, 5 Highway 17, Deep River, ON. Donations in memory of Jill can be made to The Dementia Society of Ottawa and Renfrew County (dementiahelp.ca).

CHARRON, Jean

Joseph JEAN Louis Charron, 85, of Ottawa, formerly of Deep River, died on January 12, 2018. He will be missed by his devoted family: wife Pamela (Thompson), children Dominique, Matthieu (Melissa Follen) & Michel (Pascale Groulx), & grandchildren Eric, Sophie, Etienne, and Alexandre. Born in Sturgeon Falls, Ontario, to the late Charlemagne & Dolores Charron (Doran), predeceased by his sister Claudette.

A graduate of the University of Windsor, Jean was among the first federal public servants to complete an exchange with the Ecole nationale d’administration in France. During a fulfilling public service career, he held senior positions with National Parks, the Public Service & National Capital Commissions, the Departments of Transport & Solicitor General, & Canada Post.

Jean & Pam moved to Mackey, ON, to enjoy the outdoor life in a welcoming community. Jean was elected to the Council for the United Townships of Head, Clara & Maria. Back in Ottawa in recent years, he enjoyed being close to family.

Visitation at Kelly Funeral Home, 2313 Carling Avenue, from 2-4 and 7-9 pm on January 16th. Liturgy of the Word to be celebrated in the funeral home chapel at 11am January 17th, followed by a reception.
