Another familiar face has stepped down from municipal council in the townships of Head, Clara and Maria.
Long-time Councillor Dave Foote submitted his resignation last Thursday.
Foote had perviously served 12 years on council before submitting his nomination and being acclaimed to a council position again during the last municipal elections in 2014.
Foote’s resignation from council is the third in the past nine months. Former mayor Jim Gibson and councillor Debbi Grills tendered their resignations last July.
Foote said he submitted his resignation due to “recent developments at council” as well as some personal health concerns.
In particular, he said the issue of the county’s proposed use of the former CP rail corridor, now known as the Algonquin Trail, has become bitter and divisive.
“It’s become very polarized, to the point where there’s no friendly solution (in sight),” he said.
